APOD 1.3

APOD 1.3

Moonbow
This is a moonbow that was located at Molokai Islands, Hawaii. Moonbows are rainbows that appear at night, this rare occasion can occur because of the moon. Rainbows occur because sunlight is reflected internally from raindrops, the sunlight has to be reflected opposite the sun. When the sun sets the moon rises and reflects the sunlight. At this time, there was a full moon that rose. The light you see in the background is not the sun,but the island Oahu. I think this is really amazing because you do not always see rainbows at night, it gives the sky a much more beautiful feeling.
